Making money online seems like it could be too good to be true. In many ways, it is. Get rich quick schemes are most likely just that: schemes. But, if you are willing to put in the necessary time and energy, there are legitimate ways to make a little extra cash. Do you have what it takes?

First, you need to get your head on straight. Too many people out there surfing the internet think making money online will be easy – that they can click here, point there, sign up here, submit there. They think making money online will be as easy as 1, 2, 3... literally. It's no wonder so many people believe this. Everywhere you turn on the internet these days there is the promise that you can get rich quick. If you have a blog, use it to your advantage. If you don't have a blog, seriously consider starting one. Learn how to make your blog work for you. If your blog isn't getting hits, take it in a new direction. Give your blog a purpose. Optimize photos and links.

Make sure you are writing with your target audience in mind. Submit your blog to top search engines. Research keyword advertising, adsense, adwords and search engine marketing. The more traffic you bring to your site, the more money you can make. Stay current. Learn about new trends in internet marketing and advertising.

Check out facebook, twitter, myspace and other social networking sites and decide if you can use them to your advantage. Know your client. Learn about effective web design and making your site user friendly. Sell your product. Whether that is simply your blog or an actual product or service, treat it as an old-fashioned offline business while utilizing online money making techniques. Do market research and create focus groups. Find out what is working and what isn't.

Last, but not least, get out there and do it. Take the time to find out what will work best for you. It helps to have a little street smarts and business sense. It helps even more if you already have a business you can take to the internet. Get creative and do your research. Join forums and communities dedicated to making money online.

Find a few good books on internet marketing or making money online and READ THEM. Invest in your product, your business, your idea. Invest in yourself. That is the simple truth of it. If you really want to make money online, you are going to have to invest. Whether it is money or time, making money online is an investment. And that is the bottom line.

Making money on the internet is as easy or as hard as you make it. Maybe people look to advertising and business to make money online and with great success. But mastering the online advertising market is not the only way to increase your bank account. Here are three lesser known skill sets that can easily be transferred to making money online.

1. THE ARTIST
Do you have a creative streak? Can you draw? Are you good with computers and graphic design. If you can get your vision into a 2D graphic image, then you can put it on a product and sell it. There are numerous sites out there that will act as the middle man in selling your products. You offer up the design, they manufacture the product. Making money this way is easy and painless. They allow you to upload your images, keep the copyright to your work and often, create your own online store. You can optimize keywords, create a newsletter or blog and create an RSS feed to get your work out there. You can cultivate loyal customers while always seeking new ones. The best part is that you can do all of this for free or very little start-up money. Most sites will allow you to have a basic store for no cost. If you want to increase your products or the number of images you an use, you may need to upgrade your store and invest in your business. But by then, you should well be on your way to making money online.

2. THE WRITER
Do you have good writing skills? Are you a native English speaker? Making money on the internet through writing is a booming business right now. You can be a paid blogger, write topical articles as a freelancer, ghostwrite an Ebook, be paid to transcribe youtube videos or audio clips or write keyword articles for business and advertisers. Making money this way allows you to do what you love and get paid. You can often choose your own topics for articles. Even if writing isn't your first love, it is fairly easy. Most internet writing is on a 7th grade academic level. If you can write at this level or above, you may be just what clients are looking for. This is the perfect stay at home job. All you need is time and your computer.

3. THE GAMER
Making money through gaming is becoming more and more popular. Just about any game you can play online, you can play for money. Popular games for making money include poker, blackjack, hearts, online slot machines; any game associated with gambling and Las Vegas. But games less associated with gambling can be surprisingly lucrative. Traditional board games have been introduced to the world wide web with great success. Of course you can play for fun, but you can also play make money. Online Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Trivial Pursuit are just a few examples. The internet is the great equalizer. If you're a gamer with the skills to win, you should be making money online.

Say what? RSS Feeds? Well hopefully if you are searching RSS feeds to begin with, you already know what they are. But to review, RSS stands for "Remote Site Syndication" or "Rich Site Summary" and it is a way to deliver web content that is constantly changing. It is a platform for getting information out there on the internet.

If you regularly use the web, and who doesn't these days, they solve a big problem. How do you stay informed and how do you keep up with all the information clogging the internet highways. RSS feeds allow you to pick and choose what you'd like to keep tabs on and they save you precious time and energy. Blogs create RSS feeds... news sites, businesses... anyone who has information they'd like to be seen should really create a RSS feed.

If you have an online business and are making money online but do not have an RSS feed, stop everything and do some quick research. RSS feeds can bring more traffic to your site and allow more people to hear about your products, information or ideas. That is how to make money right? Be seen. Be heard. That's half the battle on the internet. Along with keywords, strategically placed articles, adsense or adwords and selling advertising space, RSS feeds get you exposure. In short, they get you customers.

In order to create an RSS feed you need to have something to say. You can't just have a static website and create an RSS feed. If your website is constantly updating and you need to let people know about it, you can create an RSS feed. If you use a blog to make money online, your blog updates can become an RSS feed. If you are introducing new products, you can create an RSS feed.

Your updates should be interesting and offer up information your customers can use. You don't need to shy away from advertising within your RSS feed, just do it with a little finesse.

If you are involved in any networking marketing business the biggest frustration is hearing people say they don’t have money.

I have written articles in the past addressing this issue and to a certain extent if you have a strong reason (a strong why) then you will always find the money. By that I mean if you have a strong desire to get into business you will find the money.

On a fairly regular basis, I get emails or phone calls from people who say they want to have a home based business or be successful in network marketing.

BUT they don't have any money.

Most times these people just quit.

Or they go from one deal to the next, looking for the pie in the sky opportunity that will NEVER appear.

They use the EXCUSE that they don't have ANY money as the reason why they can't do network marketing or home based business and have success.

When I hear people say that they can't do network marketing because they don't have any money, the first thing that comes to mind is.

"You don't REALLY want to do this." Because IF you REALLY wanted to do this you would FIND a way.

"Brett, how can you say that?" you ask..

Say I challenged you by saying, "If you come up with $500 dollars by next Monday, I will give you $100,000."

What do you think the odds are you would have $500 by next Monday?

100%?

You see it's NOT about whether you have money, it's about whether or not you are motivated ENOUGH to TAKE ACTION.

Let me give you an example.

I live in Alaska.

Let's say I wake up in the middle of the night and I want some ice cream.

But it is the middle of winter. It’s 10 degrees outside and there is snow all over my car. If I really want ice cream I am going freeze my tail off, shovel off the snow and drive to the store in a car that does not have time to warm up.

But if I don't REALLY want ice cream bad enough to go through all the effort and discomfort, I am just going to roll over and go back to sleep.

I didn't really want ice cream. I was just WISHING for ice cream.

And there is a BIG difference between WANTING something and WISHING something.

MOST people are just WISHING for money, a better life, and nicer things. But they do not want to go through the EFFORT and DISCOMFORT of acquiring them.

They have bought into the lie that success is easy or happens like winning the lottery.

And all they do is look for reasons WHY they can't do something.

The problem with that approach is it becomes a way of life. And the only way you are going to change things is if ONE day you wake up and say.

ENOUGH!

NO MORE!

THAT'S IT!

I am going to do SOMETHING to change my life NOW.

And I am going to START TODAY.

And I am going to do WHATEVER I need to do, to accomplish MY DREAMS. Because no one else
is going to do it for me.

There are ALWAYS going to be EXTERNAL obstacles and forces that tell you, that you can't do something.

But YOU have to KNOW what it is DEEP down inside that YOU really want.

Because without that you do NOT have FUEL to keep the FIRE burning HOT enough and LONG enough, to make the journey from FAILURE to SUCCESS.

So if you are saying, "I don't have any money."

Then my response to you is.

"That is EXACTLY why you should be doing network marketing or have a home based business.

You need the money MORE THAN I DO. And therefore you MUST find a way to do this business.

Think about this.

If you are a GROWN adult over 25 and you do not have a few hundred dollars to start a home-based business, something is SERIOUSLY WRONG.

Maybe you..

* made some bad life choices.
* don't manage your money well.
* have wrong priorities.
* don't take personal responsibility for your life.
* or are just plain lazy and don't want to work.

I don't know what the reasons are. And I don't need to know.

But what you need to do is take a SERIOUS look in the mirror.

And ask yourself, "What is it that I TRULY want out of life."

WHAT IS IT? (and this may take some time for YOU to answer.)

And whatever YOUR answer is, that is your motivation for DOING ANY home-based or network marketing business.

You need to do this for YOUR reasons. Not mine and not anyone else's.

And if YOUR REASON is BIG enough and motivating enough you will do WHATEVER it takes (morally and legally) to make it so.

Because ONCE you find the thing that TRULY motivates you, there will be NO MORE EXCUSES.

You will be UNSTOPPABLE.

But you MUST have a BIG enough REASON why!

It MUST DRIVE YOU!

Because YOU WILL HAVE obstacles and hurdles and setbacks.

And you will NEED a BIG REASON why to PUSH you through EVERYTHING that will try to stop you.

This is ONE of the TRUE SECRETS to SUCCESS.

It is a FOUNDATION PRINCIPLE for ALL accomplishments throughout human history.

Think about this.

There are people who immigrate to the United States with nothing more than the shirt on their backs, start out as dishwashers or some other menial job and within 5-10 years are VERY
FINANCIALLY SUCCESSFUL or EVEN MILLIONAIRES.

Do you think they are any smarter? They sure didn't have any money. They had to do it all on their own and they started at the BOTTOM.

Your success is NOT determined by you NOT having any money. It's about you FINALLY getting a REASON WHY that motivates you enough to TAKE MASSIVE ACTION.

Success is when OPPORTUNITY meets a DETERMINED will.

It’s about you GETTING off your rear end and QUIT making excuses and START DOING something with your life that MATTERS to YOU. (And quit sitting around EVERY night, getting your brain PICKLED from watching MINDLESS television shows that SUCK THE MOTIVATION AND LIFE right out of you.)

Sure it's going to be TOUGHER starting out with no money.

BUT YOU CAN DO IT IF YOU REALLY WANT TO!

And if YOU don't do anything. WHO is going to do it for you?

And if YOU don't start now. WHEN are you going to do something?

Nobody is going to do this for you.

Mom and Dad aren't going to pick up the pieces.

You will find a way.

You will be creative.

You will work harder.

You will work smarter.

You will pray for God's guidance and blessing and protection.

You will ask for God's power and strength.

There is never a wrong time to talk about making money and gaining wealth without making enemies. Occasions, such as Christmas, provide a special reason. The best example is Charles Dickens, "A Christmas Carol."

If you have not read the book I am sure you must have seen a version of a TV movie or even a cartoon about the story of a stingy businessman named Ebenezer Scrooge. On Christmas Eve, he was visited by four ghosts. Afterward he became more generous and charitable

When anyone starts making money and strikes "gold" and gets rich, the chances are he develops enemies around him. One reason for this could be the manner in which he obtained the wealth or it could simply be because people are jealous of his good fortune.

This begs the question whether it is possible to obtain wealth without making enemies. The answer to this question is "YES".

Every person wants to have more money. However, here's the dilemma: when we start making money, we are prone to have more power. That's true.

This increase in power can result in making enemies. If you don't want enemies, but you want money, below are some of the things that you can do.

It can be very challenging however it is all about self-control. When you keep your morals intact, you know how to handle the situation better and in a civil manner. Sadly, in a world of business, there is tendency for people to engage in "cut throat" competition. If you are one of these people who subscribes to this way of thinking then ease up on this in order to avoid stepping on others to reach your end goals.

Be confident in the skill that you have. There is no need to be jealous of what others can do. Invest in your own talents; you can excel in this area. You are unique and have unique talents and gifts. With diligence and devotion on working on yourself and on what you are doing you will soon find yourself climbing up the corporate ladder and making money without making enemies.

It is best not engage in BS or crap. If you truly feel that an endeavor is a waste of time, then do not get into it. Always think before you act. If you also feel that it is not worth pursuing, do not trick others to jump on board. Keep an atmosphere of healthy competition. Do not drag people down. Keep the playing field open

Always, keep your feet on the ground when you find yourself ahead of others. Do not act all arrogant and exude the aura that you are better than others. You will surely have enemies around if you do so

When you see opportunities that will help you succeed seize every opportunity and then just go for it! However, there is no need to pull somebody else down to try and get ahead. Just proceed on your own pace and see the wonders ahead.

Most people want to make money and gain the secrets of the wealthy. They want to be their own boss and have control of their lives along with financial stability. There are also people who want to achieve wealth without compromising their relationships with people around them. It is possible to do just that!

Simply follow the golden rule: do not do unto others what you don't want others do unto you. Always put yourself in the position of the other person, without degrading or incriminating your own benefit. Think of how you can create win-win situation for yourself and for those you are dealing with. Doing this you will surely be making money with making enemies.
